How much does a submarine tour cost?

A seat on a scheduled submarine tour, a deeper submersible dive and a private charter have very different budgets. The published examples below run from a €38 adult tour ticket in Gran Canaria to US$1,000 per person for a two-hour research dive in Curaçao.

These are dated editorial examples, not live quotes. A listing's starting price may come from a booking partner with a different offer. Check the final total for your date and party before paying.

For Tenerife, Lanzarote and Jeju, check the operator's booking options rather than applying one of these examples to a different destination. Start with our Canary Islands, Hawaii and Jeju planning guides.

For a deeper dive, our Curaçao submersible guide compares Curasub's individual dives with Sub Center's custom programmes.

What changes the cost of a tour?

Seats, depth and time underwater

First decide what experience you want. A scheduled passenger submarine is an option for a holiday excursion; a deeper submersible dive is a different kind of trip. Curasub's published menu shows how both dive time and depth increase across its three priced experiences. A more expensive ticket is useful only if the extra experience matters to you.

Ask for two timings: the underwater portion and the complete visit. Transfers, check-in and boarding all take time. A two-hour outing can contain a much shorter dive, so compare those timings separately.

Adult, child and resident fares

Build your budget from your actual party. Ask which age band applies to each passenger and whether a discount requires local identification. Check boarding eligibility before buying a child's ticket: an advertised child fare does not mean every young child can join.

Transfers, taxes and cancellation terms

Compare the final checkout total, including any taxes and fees. Then add transport to the departure point, parking and any optional extras you plan to buy. A hotel transfer can change both the total cost and how much of your day the trip takes.

Read the cancellation deadline for the offer you choose. Ask how a weather cancellation is handled and whether changing your date costs extra. If you book through a partner, use that partner's terms and contact details.

How much does a private submarine charter cost?

A private charter needs a quote for your location, dates and operating plan. U-Boat Worx's Charter-A-Sub advertises charter periods from one week to several months. That is a different commitment from buying a ticket for one dive.

Before comparing quotes, ask each provider to itemize:

  • The charter period, submarine model and number of guest seats.
  • The pilot, crew and proposed dive schedule.
  • A support vessel and launch arrangements, including whether you supply the vessel.
  • Transport to and from the operating area, permits, insurance and taxes.
  • What happens to the price or itinerary if conditions prevent diving.

Dividing a weekly charter rate by the number of seats does not tell you the price of a passenger dive. You also need the agreed operating costs and realistic number of dives. Compare private charter listings and send the provider your preferred dates, destination, guest count and support-vessel details.

Build a budget for your party

Use this calculation: eligible passengers × the applicable ticket fares, plus required booking fees, transport, parking and chosen extras. Keep each quoted currency separate until you convert it for your own budget.

For example, two adults at Atlántida's published €38 box-office fare would budget €76 for tickets, before transport or extras. Two adults on Curasub's US$450 Wreck Dive would budget US$900 for the dives. Those calculations use the examples above; the provider confirms the price when you book.
